Given its popularity, many fans have clamored for a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for several years. So, when in 2021, rumors emerged that Konami was working on a remake, you can't exactly blame fans for jumping on the bandwagon.

According to VGC’s Andy Robinson, the video game company outsourced the game’s development to the Chinese studio, Virtuos. However, there has been little to no update since then.
Recently, those rumors surfaced again with many sources claiming the game will be released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, a recent Insider Gaming report has revealed that isn’t the case. According to the publication, Konami is working on a multiplatform Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake that will see the game released for the Xbox and PC, too.
Windows Central’s Jez Corden corroborates this stating that he has been able to "hard-confirm" the reports, even though Sony and Konami have a marketing deal in place about the game and several others. He revealed that the remake is in line with Konami’s attempt to reestablish itself as an AAA gaming brand.
The company is already working on a Silent Hill 2 remake with Bloober Team and is rumored to have even more Silent Hill remakes in the pipeline. Recent rumors also claimed that Konami is working on a Castlevania remake, too.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a prequel to the stealth video game franchise.
Set in 1964, during the Cold War, the game chronicles Naked Snake’s ordeals as he ventures into the Soviet wilderness of Tselinoyarsk on a three-fold mission. The FOX operative was charged with rescuing Russian rocket scientist Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, destroying a dangerous nuclear weapon, and killing his former boss who defected to the Soviet Union.
At the moment, neither Konami nor Sony has said anything about the rumors. So, we advise you to take the news with a grain of result. However, we expect a bit of information to surface during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase event scheduled to hold on May 24 at 1 PM PDT.
By the way, the rumored remake is not the first time the action-adventure title will undergo some revision. Konami released a remastered version of the title as part of its Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360 in 2011 and reworked for the Nintendo 3DS in 2012.
If the rumors are right, as sources claim, the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will launch for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms.
