Multiple sources within the video game industry have suggested that a PlayStation-exclusive remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is close to confirmation at this point.
The XboxEra co-host, Shpeshal_Nick, mentioned in a recent episode that "he's heard" that the still-unconfirmed PlayStation showcase will feature the "rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake", adding that the game could have "exclusive content". But, Windows Central's Jez Corden took this a step further, saying that he's "heard about Metal Gear exclusivity for PlayStation".
A PlayStation-exclusive remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater might be close to confirmation, according to multiple industry sources.
When you consider that Jeff Grubb has mentioned several times already that a PlayStation Showcase is happening before the Summer Game Fest, presumably later this month, you can't help but speculate that something really is going on.
Previously, it was said that Konami had big plans for E3 2023. Now that it's canceled, Konami could have tapped one of its longest-running partners.
It's looking more and more likely that it's only a matter of time before Sony confirms this month's PlayStation Showcase.
We previously reported on a rumor that several first-party studios are already prepared to showcase whatever they've been working on in the past few years. Given that it's been nearly two years since Sony has hosted a PlayStation Showcase, fans are understandably excited to see what else Sony has planned for the PlayStation 5 now that more and more games are no longer coming out on last-gen consoles.
Regardless of whether a PlayStation Showcase with the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake in it is happening or not, Sony has plenty to reveal.
From the first gameplay footage of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ahead of its rumored September launch to the upcoming new PlayStation 5 variant (and maybe even a PlayStation 5 Pro), Sony can either drop more info one by one in a smaller and more focused State of Play or make everyone happy by holding a PlayStation Showcase.
Speaking of Konami, it's also believed that Sony and Konami have signed off on a deal to make future Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Castlevania entries exclusive to the PlayStation platform.
