The Last of Us, which streamed on HBO Max and was a fixture on HBO, was one of the most successful TV shows to premiere, not just this year, but ever. It was a critical success and enjoyed massive viewership. More importantly, it proved that it's possible to bring video games to the small screen (and big) and make it just as good as the source material if not better.

As fans look forward to the premiere of the now-delayed multiple new seasons, the hit series is giving fans a reason to celebrate as it enjoys the distinction of being the first video game adaptation to earn an Emmy nomination. But, that's not all, because the show enjoyed the second-most Emmy Awards nominations for this year.

On Wednesday, the 75th Emmy Awards released its nominations for the world to see, and The Last of Us scored itself a whopping 24 nominations. Three of these nominations were in the biggest categories – best drama series, best actor in a drama series for Pedro Pascal, and best actress in a drama series for Bella Ramsey.

Other categories that the show was nominated in are Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, among others.
