After nine seasons on-screen, CW's The Flash is finally ending its run. The show, which is the longest-running Arrowverse television series, will air its final episode on May 24, nine years on after it premiered in 2014. However, Grant Gustin, who plays the titular character, isn't quite ready to say goodbye forever.
During a recent conversation with Us Weekly about his on-screen persona, Barry Allen, and his relationship with his wife, Iris West, Gustin stated that he will love to reprise the role in the future if the opportunity arises, saying: I can't wrap my head around it right now, obviously. But if someone called me today or tomorrow and was like, 'Hey, we have this amazing Flash idea,' obviously it's like, I'm gonna take that phone call and listen to that idea. And I think this is a character that I'm going to — no matter if I play it again [or not] — I'll probably be associated with this character more than anything else in my career, for the rest of my life. So I'll always listen to any Flash pitch." To avoid giving fans of the show false hope, he clarified that he hasn't received any such phone call. However, he reiterated that he will always be open to playing the character stating that it is very close to his heart and will always be.
The Glee star also revealed that the relationship between Barry Allen and his wife is consistent. He stated that there are no additional struggles between the two characters and the entire season is about seeing them grow and become a stronger couple than ever before.
