God of War: Ragnarok finally gets a release date and a new CGI trailer

Alongside the announcement, Sony released a 30-second CGI trailer featuring the father-and-son duo fighting against all sorts of creatures, including what appears to be Fenrir, the wolf who ate the Sun in Norse mythology.

Sony and Santa Monica Studio also took this opportunity to reveal the different God of War: Ragnarok editions. As per the earlier leaks, the God of War sequel will be available in three different versions. You can get the standard version, which costs $59.99 on the PS4 and a bit more at $69.99 on the PS5. Meanwhile, the "launch edition" is slightly pricier and it comes with in-game armor and tunic cosmetics for Kratos and Atreus. Finally, if you've got money to spare, the game's collectible version, Jötnar Edition, adds everything else alongside a set of pins as well as a 16-inch Mjölnir replica, among several others.

God of War Ragnarok will end Kratos' time fighting against the Norse gods. Before this, the titular God of War went on a murderous rampage and took out all the known Greek gods over six games across three PlayStation platforms over the span of a decade. After a long wait, it's nice to find out that God of War: Ragnarok will come out this year.

With its November release, PlayStation will have effectively bookended 2022 with major first-party exclusives after Horizon Forbidden West came out in February.
