Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has grossed the highest amount for a Netflix first-week theatrical release in North America.

According to Deadline, the Rian Johnson-directed film has earned an estimated $13 million in its first five days at the cinemas and is projected to gross $15 million at the end of its seven-day run.

With its box office returns, Glass Onion is the third-highest-grossing film during the Thanksgiving holiday, behind Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with $65 million and Disney's Strange World with $18.5 million. Given that Glass Onion was available in only 638 theaters in North America, its box office return is impressive, especially when compared with the fact that Wakanda Forever and Strange Worlds were released in about 4,000 theaters around the world.

Before Glass Onion came along, Red Notice held the record for the highest-earning Netflix film with about $1 million. The film, which also had a limited theatrical release like Glass Onion, debuted in only 700 theaters in North America. Glass Onion has, however, outperformed this figure with its $13 million to become the highest-grossing Netflix film ever at the box office.
