Giancarlo Esposito's Gus Fring is as iconic as he is enigmatic. Before Better Call Saul aired, fans knew very little about the owner of Los Pollos Hermanos save that he was from Chile and pulling the strings behind Albuquerque's drug trade. The Bob Odenkirk-led spin-off helped shed more light on his character, but Fring remains as much of a mystery if not even more so.

With Better Call Saul about to wrap things up in its sixth season, fans are busy talking about where the Breaking Bad franchise will go next.

If you ask Esposito though, he's very willing to come back as Gus Fring in a prequel.

Esposito revealed in a recent interview with Insider that "there's room for material for the rise of Gus." The Mandalorian actor explained that he feels a spin-off exploring his origins would draw audiences, speculating that he feels like Fring "came from a really wealthy family, had the opportunity to run, not only the family but government in another country." Esposito added that he is fascinated that Gus traded everything he had and could have had "because he wanted to be his own man."
