Cyberpunk 2077 may have stolen the headlines as one of the most highly anticipated cyberpunk games to ever release, but it wasn't the only notable cyberpunk game to come out in 2020.

One of the few that flew under the radar but received stellar reviews, as well as moderate commercial success, was One More Level and 505 Games' first-person all-action cyberpunk title, Ghostrunner.

Released first in October 2020, Ghostrunner went on to sell more than 600,000 copies by May 2021. Apparently, the reception was good enough that the developers just announced they are working on a sequel for next-gen consoles, the Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5, as well as the PC.

Developers Confirm Ghostrunner 2 Is In The Works

Ghostrunner put players in the shoes of Jack the Ghostrunner, who'll have to dash, jump, wall-run, and grapple his way through dangerous environments. All the while, players must pay attention to enemies that can kill Jack with just one hit. Jack also has a unique ability to slow time down. Players will be able to unlock new upgrades and abilities as they progress throughout the story of Ghostrunner.

Ghostrunner was first announced at Gamescom 2019. Later on, a demo was made available on May 2020, a little over six months before the game's release date. Ghostrunner was released first on the PC, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 27, 2020. Later on, a Nintendo Switch version was launched on November 10, 2020. A next-gen version of Ghostrunner has since been confirmed to come sometime in 2021.
