For years, fans have come to expect Sony to announce the next month's free PlayStation Plus games just a few days to a week before they release. But, as consistent as Sony has been for years, it's not unusual for the Japanese company behind the PlayStation brand to switch things up occasionally. This just happens to be one of those times.

What are the free PS Plus game for August 2021?

Earlier this year, Sony broke its usual cycle by announcing Oddworld: Soulstorm roughly around a month ahead of its release on the PlayStation Plus for PS5 owners.

Now, Sony is doing it again. The only difference this time around is that the reveal comes a little over three weeks in advance.

In case you missed it, Sony just held a State of Play showcase with Arkane Studios' upcoming PS5-exclusive FPS shooter, Deathloop, as its main highlight. However, a new gameplay trailer for Deathloop wasn't the only thing that was revealed at the event. Sony also confirmed that Hunter's Arena: Legends will be one of the three free PS Plus games for August.
