Video game developer Artur Laczkowski has disclosed he's building a survival horror title in Unreal Engine 5.
In the Twitter post, the Death of Rose developer stated, "Since I left Bloober, it took me a long time before I decided to return to game development. At this point I can't reveal too much but it's a big project, with big names and budget. We are using advance technology powered by Unreal Engine 5." He also stated that he would reveal more details about the title in the future.
Laczkowski and his team accompanied the Twitter announcement with a teaser trailer on YouTube. The trailer shows a dark bloodstained hallway like the one in PT. It then pans to a side room where a little boy can be seen eating a dead body in a seemingly casual manner. This similarity led to a Twitter user commenting that the game is inspired by PT. However, the developer denied this. In his response, he stated, "Not really. You know, P.T. really influenced me me as a creator, yet this project is inspired only by our sick imaginations, no other game."
Laczkowski was a member of the Polish video game studio Bloober Team, which was founded by Peter Babieno and Peter Bielatowicz in 2008. He left the team in March 2022 for personal reasons, including his father's health status, his desire to aid his friends in Ukraine, and his need to improve his career after hitting a creative wall. However, he noted that he was only taking a break and would continue once he feels ready. Before embarking on his hiatus, he stated "I just need a break from everything. I love designing, directing, building worlds, and creating amazing experiences. To that end, I have some big plans for the future but as of right now I need to focus on what matters the most."
