Game of Thrones, and its spin-off or prequel, House of the Dragon, are two of the most pirated and spoiled entertainment products of all time. Both, at some point, dealt with entire episodes leaking online ahead of their global premiere, much to the anger and disappointment of HBO executives. Ironically, the upcoming Final Fantasy game by Square Enix, Final Fantasy XVI, which takes inspiration from the George R.R. Martin novels and the TV adaptations, is dealing with the same issue.
Just days ahead of the launch of Final Fantasy 16, physical retail copies of the game have leaked online, with an unboxing video already on YouTube.
As a result, Square Enix has had to come out with a statement, basically asking fans who received a physical copy of FF16 ahead of everyone else to keep it to themselves and not to spoil anything.
As the unfortunate news sets the internet ablaze, fans are on high alert. Several gamers, anxious to experience the storyline untarnished, have considered going on a social media blackout.
The speculation of spoilers spreading across platforms like Twitter, 4chan, or Youtube has only intensified the gravity of the situation.
