Square Enix and Final Fantasy are synonymous with the PlayStation brand. But, contrary to popular belief, not all Final Fantasy games are exclusive to the PlayStation platform. In fact, the latest numbered installment, Final Fantasy 15, launched day and date on both the PS4 and Xbox One before coming to the PC two years later. However, the incoming entry, Final Fantasy 16, is going to be exclusive to the PS5 - just not for as long as expected.

According to an ad from the official PlayStation Twitter account, FF16 will only be a "PS5 exclusive for six months" after it comes out next summer.

We've known for a while that the JRPG will come out next summer, but this is the first time we're hearing about the game's arrival on other platforms outside of a "tease" spotted by fans in one of the game's earliest trailers.

If we do a quick calculation, the PC port of FF16 will be available in December or sometime during Q1 of 2024. Unfortunately, there's still no mention of an Xbox Series S/X port, and at this point, if you own an Xbox, you might not want to get your hopes up. Keep in mind that Final Fantasy VII Remake (and its current-gen-exclusive upgrade, Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade), are not available on the Xbox One and the Xbox Series S/X.
