Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood. His films over the past two decades have all grossed $3.1 billion, which is surprising when the only billion-dollar franchise that The Rock's been a part of is Fast and Furious. However, while his spin-off with Jason Statham made $760 million at the global box office and could potentially cross the billion-dollar mark with a follow-up film, it appears that Johnson wants Hobbs and Shaw to end with the sequel.

Why does Johnson want Hobbs and Shaw to end?

Dwayne Johnson Wants Hobbs And Shaw To End With The Second Film

Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw first starred in the Fast and Furious franchise. The former entered the long-running franchise in 2011's Fast Five as a federal agent who later becomes part of Vin Diesel's "family". Meanwhile, the latter entered the picture in 2015's Furious 7 as the main antagonist before also joining the crew later on. Then, in 2019, the two starred together in Hobbs and Shaw, which had a pretty open ending that paved the way for multiple installments.

While it would make sense for Johnson to go back and play Hobbs again in a sequel, the action star clarified in a Sirius XM interview that he wants the spin-off series to end with the second film.
