An analyst for Digital Foundry just confirmed that he saw Returnal running on the PC.

So far, Sony hasn’t ported a PS5 exclusive to the PC yet. But, it appears that is changing soon.

Returnal was one of the first PS5 exclusives to hit the market, and it was definitely a breath of fresh air. The game’s punishing difficulty caught a lot of players off their guard as did its very confusing and philosophical story.

However, while Returnal is a textbook example of an underrated title and, quite possibly, a cult classic, its lack of popularity among PS5 owners might have more to do with its platform. Roguelikes like Returnal tend to do better on the PC. So, when we first heard about a potential PC port of Returnal in May, we could only imagine the smile on the faces of PC owners who’ve wanted to give it a try for a long time.

The PC market is much more welcoming to challenging games and roguelike titles.

In recent weeks, eagle-eyed observers have spotted several updates made to the listing of Returnal on Steam, including one that hints at Steam Deck support once the PC port comes out.

Now, we just got more evidence that Returnal is coming to the PC. According to a tech expert working for the tech analysis website, Digital Foundry, claims that they saw Returnal running on a PC. Although the same user later added that they’re not promising that the PC port of the roguelike shooter, which pretty much guarantees that Returnal will be the first PS5 exclusive on the PC.

The only question now then is, “when will Returnal be available on the PC?”

At this rate, Sony could release at least one PlayStation exclusive to the PC a month until March.

At the moment, Sony has four PC ports for first-party Sony titles confirmed to release later this year but only Marvel’s Spider-Man (August 12) has a release date. The rest, such as The Last of Us Part 1, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, might hit digital store shelves anytime between August and December. This isn’t including the titles listed on the Nvidia GeForce Now leak such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Ghost of Tsushima, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

Hopefully, Sony has a short highlight reel planned for all of the company’s next slate of PC releases at the next PlayStation Showcase, which should take place in September.
