2019's Pokemon: Detective Pikachu was a global box office hit, pulling in nearly $450 million against a $150 million budget. More importantly, it was beloved by audiences and critics alike, en route to becoming one of the best game adaptations of all time.

But, for some reason, Warner Bros. Pictures, Legendary Entertainment, and The Pokemon Company haven't given us an update about a new installment - until now.

is claiming that Legendary is working things out with a new creative team to get started on a sequel.

The report claims that Rob Letterman's replacement will be Jonathan Kirsel, with Chris Galleta interested to write the script. It isn't clear if Ryan Reynolds and Justice Smith are returning but the former is highly unlikely, at least, as Pikachu, following the events of the first movie. However, the report suggests that the upcoming MCU actor will play a role in the follow-up.
