A decade in the lab, multiple developers, and a swath of rumors later, Dead Island 2 is back from the dead. Just like the Thug that all but refuses to die, Dambuster Studios as well as Deep Silver, held a showcase for the long-gestating Dead Island sequel, against all odds, and it went surprising well.

The latest Dead Island 2 showcase features a gameplay trailer, a live-action trailer, and the new weapons that will be available when the title launches. The showcase had a surprise revelation as well because Dead Island 2 will apparently let players experience the game as zombies.

The live-action trailer follows three characters who have survived the zombie apocalypse (or zompocalypse) as they arrive in a mansion in Los Angeles. During their exploration of the house, they mistakenly open the gates to welcome a horde of zombies and have to fight to stay alive.

The gameplay trailer, on the other hand, takes players on a tour of Los Angeles showing its streets, houses, and beaches, with two of the game's two characters, Amy and Jacob, in the middle of fighting zombies. The trailer also showcases the different weapons in the game such as machetes, katanas, guns, axes, swords, hammers, baseball bats, and axes, among others. Apart from slicing, dicing, and cutting with these weapons, players can go mano a mano and knock zombies out with their bare hands.
