Dave Bautista, the muscle-bound wrestler-turned-actor best known for his role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, hasn't stopped expanding his acting resume following his breakout role as Drax. After starring in two of the year's biggest movies, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Knock at the Cabin, Bautista is adding another role to the mix, and this time, it's an action film with a hint of humor.
The upcoming film, set to be produced by Lionsgate, will see Bautista play the role of a terminally ill hitman who takes out a contract on himself. However, he later finds out that he was misdiagnosed.
Bautista's character must then avoid assassination from his fellow hitmen in order to live.
It's this kind of premise that should give Bautista a chance to flex his comedic chops while also delivering the high-octane action that fans have come to expect.
The film will adapt the events of the novel written by Jay Bonansinga of the same name. Day Shift's J.J. Perry has signed on to direct the movie with James Coyne handling rewrites on the script that has been written by Randy Ravish and Simon Kinberg.
