There was early speculation that the reason the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 is free is to make up for the game's disastrous launch and all the major setbacks encountered by Cyberpunk 2077. However, this is not the case; Phantom Liberty will be coming with a price tag, but we don't know how much.

Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a massive revival as of late, as the game recently beat the Steam record of Witcher 3 for the most concurrent players.

With the game's recent surge in popularity, CD Projekt Red has been working on an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Phantom Liberty will be the first and only expansion that is on the roadmap for the once-troubled AAA title.

Unfortunately, CDPR's global PR director Radek Grabowski confirmed to GamesRadar that the game will be a paid DLC, saying:

As for the expansion's pricing - we have not revealed exact details yet, but it will be a paid one."
