Children of the Corn remake trailer released after a long delay

Children of the Corn is based on Stephen King's 1977 short story of the same name. While the original film mostly received negative critical reviews, it was a commercial success and grossed $14.6 million against a budget of $800,000.

The film inspired a franchise that has seen the release of numerous feature films, as well as a short film. It also gained a cult following and has featured heavily in pop culture in the intervening years since its release.

Children of the Corn remake stars Elena Kampouris, Kate Moyer, Callan Mulvey, Bruce Spence, Andrew Gilbert, Stephen Hunter, and Erika Heynatz. It was written and directed by Kurt Wimmer whose writing credits include Point Break, Total Recall, and The Misfits.

Children of the Corn is not the only Stephen King adaptation to arrive in cinemas this year. The Boogeyman, a 20th Century Studios film based on another Stephen King short story, will premiere on June 2, 2023. However, The Boogeyman will serve as a sequel to the literature rather than adapting it.

The Boogeyman was originally intended as a direct-to-streaming release on the streaming service Hulu. However, following a highly successful test screening, 20th Century Studios decided on a theatrical release after which it will head to Disney+.

Children of the Corn will debut in cinemas across the United States on March 3 and be available on streaming on VOD and Digital on March 21.
