Capcom recently stirred the pot with the revelation of a major unannounced game slated for release in the latter half of the current fiscal year. This mysterious title is not just any regular release, as Capcom is placing big bets on it, anticipating it to rake in millions of copies sold within just a few months.
During a Q&A session in a briefing for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2024, Capcom dropped this intriguing revelation, which aligns with a previous report from a few months ago.
Alongside the release of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy in January, this unannounced game is expected to make a significant contribution to the company’s ambitious sales target of 45 million copies for the fiscal year.
Now, if you’re a betting person, the odds might favor a new Monster Hunter installment following the success of the last one. After all, March 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the beloved Monster Hunter series. In addition to this, there’s the fascinating artwork Capcom teased us with in September, showcasing familiar hunters and possibly a new one.
An alleged leak on 4chan has further fueled these rumors, suggesting the title ‘Monster Hunter Paradise’ and hinting at a battle pass system in place of expansions. The source also claims that the game will feature over 100 monsters at launch, many of whom are familiar faces from Monster Hunter Rise, World, and Generations.
However, that’s not the only card Capcom might have up its sleeve. There has also been some chatter about potential additions to other flagship franchises like Resident Evil and Street Fighter, but all this has been speculation since Capcom has not made any official comments or statements.
After celebrating an impressive 11-year streak of profit growth, Capcom’s sitting pretty. A lot of that success is owed to its proprietary RE Engine. Now that its time in the sun is approaching its end, Capcom has already pulled back the curtain on the next-gen RE Engine, dubbed REX (or RE neXt Engine).
During its announcement, Capcom stated that it would be phasing in the REX Engine rather than diving in for a complete overhaul. Given this strategy, it’s unlikely that the mysterious, unannounced title will be built on the REX engine, as it’s just around the corner.

So, as we eagerly await Capcom’s official announcement, it’s practically a given that we’ll be inundated with a deluge of outlandish speculations from every nook and cranny of the internet. In light of this, we advise that you take any and all supposed leaks with a grain of salt.
