It’s been said before that Activision Blizzard and Infinity Ward will continue supporting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 well into its second year as the franchise finally breaks its long-standing annual cycle. However, the game’s second-year content lineup has been subject to much speculation. But, if we believe the recent leaks, the paid DLC for Modern Warfare 2’s second year on the market will consist of classic Call of Duty maps.
Multiple sources, including Tom Henderson on Insider Gaming, claim that the “premium DLC” will be a “greatest hits” compilation of the best maps from the long-running franchise.
It’s still unclear how much the paid DLC will sell for and what else is concluded, but multiple reports corroborate that remastered maps are a huge part of the package. It’s possible that the map bundle will be just one of many content packs planned for the second-year content of Modern Warfare 2.
As we’ve already mentioned, next year will be the franchise’s first gap year ever. This means that no mainline Call of Duty game will come out next year. Even though Activision Blizzard hasn’t confirmed this year, their silence suggests that all the reports are true.
Having said that, we’ll likely find out more about the future of Modern Warfare 2 as soon as it comes out on the 28th followed by Warzone 2 on November 16.
