Sony has been aggressively exploring movie adaptations for its most popular titles. It looks like Destiny will be the next game making its way to both the big and small screen, with former Warner Bros talent helping steer the jumpship.
Destiny has become one of the biggest IPs in the video game industry. Bungie is looking to take the title to new mediums similar to how Halo expanded to books, animated films, and TV shows. The studio looks to capitalize on the popularity of the Destiny franchise as it moves to other forms of media.
Bungie has reportedly hired a former Warner Bros Discovery exec Gabriel VanHuss to help out with expanding the Destiny series to other media. VanHuss's new post will be Head of Linear Media for the Destiny IP. The exec will oversee the development of films, TV shows, comics, and other projects for the Destiny universe.
"I recently took the gig as Head of Linear Media for the Destiny franchise at Bungie," says VanHuss in a LinkedIn post. "This new position will work with the Destiny Universe Leadership team to create strategy and execute the operations for expansion of Destiny into new media, including TV, films, books, comics, and audio formats."
"Destiny has a universe worth of stories waiting to be told, and I look forward to connecting best-in-class partners to our amazing creative team to bring them to life for current and new fans. Eyes up, guardian!"
