Blizzard has done a good job managing the servers for Diablo 4 during the early access period. However, the launch day is a different story as players report long queues to get into the game.
Diablo 4 officially launched today and some players have been experiencing server issues, which are worse than what PS5 owners experienced a few days ago. Gamers have reportedly been stuck in a long queue that says “game start pending.” Players have also reported a new error: 300008 when logging in to Diablo 4.
“Game servers are down again,” a Reddit user shared. “I was teleporting and got stuck on a loading screen. Now I can’t load into the game, getting error 30000. Oh well.”
The server issues hit hard for some players. One hardcore mode player lost a character due to disconnection issues. “I literally just lost my [Hardcore] character 95% through the campaign cause the game [disconnected] me during one of the final boss fights,” another Reddit user shared.
Blizzard has acknowledged the launch day server issues plaguing Diablo 4. The studio has said that it was working on a fix.
[#DiabloIV] We're currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.

Diablo 4’s global community development director Adam Fletcher assured fans that the devs would be working through the night to fix the server issues.
“We see the login/server issues. Team is on it,” Fletcher tweeted. “Seeing some improvement but team is still continue to work through the night on the issues.”
Blizzard has also reported an issue with the authentication servers which resulted in players timing out. However, the devs were able to fix the bug around five hours after it was first reported. There have so far been no issues with the authentication servers after the fix was deployed.
Blizzard assured fans that it was confident about the server’s readiness for launch day. The studio hosted several public betas to gauge how well the servers would hold up on release day. Blizzard may have underestimated the number of players logging in to the game on Day 1.
We tried to play Diablo 4 today and there were long queues during the first hours. It improved throughout the day but there were still some occasional lag spikes and rubberbanding. While the issues were not game-breaking, the experience can still be frustrating.
However, we are confident that Blizzard will sort out the server issues just as it did when Overwatch 2 launched. The team-based first-person shooter experienced long server queues that it was impossible for most to play on Day 1.
But, hey, at least this should give those who’ve been grinding away to join the first players to reach level 100 in Hardcore Mode a temporary reprieve.
