Surprise, surprise. After the two widely successful beta weekends last month, Blizzard Entertainment is giving its legions of fans another shot at diving deep into Sanctuary for an early glimpse of the game ahead of its full launch.
According to Blizzard, a third Diablo 4 open beta will run from May 12-14, which it’s referring to as a “Server Slam” event.
Coincidentally, this is also the same weekend that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is coming out. So, good luck trying to get some sleep by then.
Jokes aside, Blizzard’s latest move acknowledges a glaring issue with previous Diablo 4 open betas. As audiences flocked to the game, the servers struggled to keep up with the intense load. By holding another test run ahead of June 6, Blizzard can make the necessary adjustments for a smoother launch.

All previous beta rewards, including the wolf puppy backpack, are returning with the levels capped at 20 again. Blizzard has claimed it has made the appropriate feedback and balance changes based on data from the previous beta. In addition to this, everyone starts with a clean slate for the third beta, and any progress from this one won’t carry over to the full game. Finally, the studio has adjusted the Legendary drop rate to mirror the launch version of Diablo 4.
So, all in all, Diablo 4’s third and final beta will likely be more of the same if not better.
Just like the last time, players can access the open beta client through the PlayStation and Xbox Stores on the PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series and X, respectively, as well as Battle.net for PC gamers.
As a bonus, on May 13 at 9:00 AM PDT, 24 hours after the beta kicks off, Ashava the world boss will spawn once every three hours. Players who beat Ashava with a level 20 character before the end of the Server Slam will receive a Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy.
Diablo 4 fans are eager to play through another round of what’s technically Blizzard paying them nothing to test out their upcoming game. But, hey, at least it’s fun, right?
Now, if only Blizzard can throw in another cleaning partnership so hardcore gamers don’t have to trouble themselves with petty chores while switching between Diablo 4 and Tears of the Kingdom from May 12-14.
Speaking of Blizzard, one of its developers spoke out about the company’s recent struggles with retaining key talent.
