HBO's The Last of Us is all but guaranteed to go on for as long as Neil Druckmann and Craig Maizin want it to. But, without official confirmation from HBO, fans are still waiting on the green light, especially since several platforms are more than happy to drop even successful shows at a moment's notice. Even though we've no official word from the higher-ups yet, Bella Ramsey's words are as good as official until otherwise stated.
The Last of Us star, who plays Ellie in the live-action adaptation, recently told BBC that a second season is "pretty likely" before adding that "we'll have to wait and see."
Any TV show that usurps Game of Thrones and can dance with House of the Dragon deserves an equally expensive second season. So, it's only a matter of when and not if, especially with the plot for the second season all but confirmed already.
If a second season does happen, it likely won't be around for at least a year or two. We're curious to see if Ramsey will reprise the role of the older Ellie by then - there's a five-year gap between The Last of Us Part 1 and The Last of Us Part 2.
