Bad Boys 4 Gets Officially Subtitled "Ride or Die” and Release Date Announced with New Trailer

The film, serving as a direct sequel to the critically acclaimed Bad Boys For Life released in 2020, marks the continuation of the highly successful action movie franchise. Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the creative minds behind the previous installment's success, Ride or Die is poised to build upon its predecessor's plot and character development.

The fourth Bad Boys film was teased at the end of Bad Boys For Life with a pre-credits scene between Lowrey and his son Armando Aretas. However, the incident with Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards led to assumptions that the film would be delayed. This rumor was dispelled when Will Smith announced in February 2023 that the movie is already in pre-production.

Joining Smith and Lawrence is a stellar ensemble cast, including Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Nunez, Tasha Smith, Rhea Seehorn, Eric Dane, DJ Khaled, Jacob Scipio, Joyner Lucas, Melanie Liburd, and Ioan Gruffudd. Interestingly, Tasha Smith is taking over the role of Theresa Burnett (played by Theresa Randle since the first 1995 film).

The announcement of Bad Boys: Ride or Die comes as a culmination of the franchise's enduring legacy, which began with the release of the first movie in 1995. Directed by Michael Bay, the inaugural installment introduced audiences to the dynamic duo of Lowrey and Burnett, embarking on a mission to recover stolen Mafia heroin. With Bad Boys making $15.5 million on its opening and ultimately grossing $141 million globally, the groundwork for the franchise's enduring success was set.

Following the overwhelming success of the original film, Bad Boys II premiered in 2003, further solidifying the franchise's status as a powerhouse in the realm of action cinema. However due to Smith, Lawrence, and Michael Bay all becoming busy with many other projects in the mid-2000s to the 2010s (Transformers, anyone?), the third entry would not come into fruition until much later.
