Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is reportedly getting a massive expansion in 2022

The leaker claims that Assassin's Creed Valhalla's upcoming DLC will add at least 40 hours worth of content.

2018’s God of War soft reboot by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio and 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla by Ubisoft have two things in common: they’re both steeped deep into Norse mythology. However, whereas the former is more into myths and fantasy, the latter tries to bring Norwegian folklore to life in a more “realistic” world. Now, it appears that Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed game is going to get a massive DLC expansion in 2020 that’s similar to God of War in style.

The upcoming Valhalla DLC leak is in line with previous rumors

Valhalla is the best-selling game in the Assassin's Creed franchise. It only makes sense that Ubisoft continue supporting it.

Tom Henderson is usually leaking information about Battlefield and Call of Duty games. However, the trusted industry insider has been known to deviate now and then. Earlier this year, Henderson kickstarted the rumors that GTA 6 won’t release until 2025. He also leaked info about an NFT-based AAA FPS game from former Halo developers being in the works. Finally, he mentioned that a Battle Royale game based on Squid Game was also in development.

So, while he does have some specialties, Henderson isn’t limited to his niche as far as having accurate intel goes.

With that said, his latest tweet suggests that a massive 40-hour DLC campaign for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is coming. He even hinted that Ubisoft could reveal this expansion at The Game Awards 2021.

Of course, none of this is confirmed information, so it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. But, it is in line with previous rumors about future Assassin’s Creed Valhalla content as well as official announcements straight from Ubisoft.

We already know that Ubisoft is working on more post-launch DLCs for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Meanwhile, an earlier leak suggested that the upcoming DLC will be titled “Dawn of Ragnarok”. When you consider that the God of War sequel’s title is God of War Ragnarok, there are just far too many coincidences at this point.

Ultimately, it’s all up to Ubisoft to confirm all these speculations. If it’s any consolation, Ubisoft did release something substantial for Valhalla. Unfortunately, it’s not new DLC content. Instead, Ubisoft announced in a forum post that players will have to re-download the full game as of update 1.4.1 as part of the studio’s effort to restructure the game’s files so that it’s ready to support “future content and game updates.”

If nothing else, this confirms that Ubisoft is setting the stage for its epic Viking RPG title to expand going forward.
