California-based video game developer and publisher Zynga recently made a move to acquire Echtra Games, the developers of action RPG, Torchlight 3.
This is just the latest in a series of moves that Zynga has made over the past year, to expand their business within the industry.
In June 2020, Zynga acquired Turkish developers Peak for the hefty sum of $1.8 billion. They also recently announced that they are working on a free game for the Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms titled Star Wars Hunters.
What's Next for Echtra Games?
According to their official statement, Zynga stated that they acquired Echtra Games to work on a cross-platform RPG. However, they did not go into detail as to what game this would be and when it would be released.
Zynga also added that the acquisition will give them the opportunity to expand their reach in the PC, as well as console, gaming markets.
On a similar note, Zynga also didn't really reveal too much about Star Wars Hunters. Instead, all we have to go on is that it's a free-to-play title and that EA won't be involved in the game's development in any way or form.
