Xbox Game Pass is getting more launch titles in 2022

Microsoft continues to widen the gap against its competition by adding more day one releases to the Game Pass library this 2022, including the indie darling, Tunic.

It's hard to believe that Tunic was made by just a single person.

With Redfall and Starfield both coming to the Game Pass this year, among several other big-name titles, long-time subscribers to Microsoft’s video game subscription service already had plenty going for them. Even when you consider this month’s relatively quiet offerings as well as that of last month, Game Pass remains the subscription to beat.

However, Microsoft isn’t content on resting on its laurels, announcing even more day one titles for later this year.

At the March 2022 ID@Xbox Showcase, Microsoft confirmed 12 games that are launching on Game Pass for both Xbox consoles and PC, with two that are already available.

Microsoft is a company that champions the little guys, evidenced by the ID@Xbox program. Through this, developers will get the tools and resources that they need to bring their games to PCs as well as Xbox consoles. But, that’s not all, as Microsoft also frequently hosts showcases for developers to show off their upcoming titles. The latest ID@Xbox Showcase, in particular, revealed that the following games are headed to the Game Pass:

  • Crusader Kings III – March 29, 2022
  • Tunic (Xbox Series X|S Optimized) –  March 16, 2022
  • IMMORTALITY – Summer 2022
  • Trek to Yomi – Spring 2022
  • Escape Academy – 2022
  • Shredders (Xbox Series X|S Optimized) – March 17, 2022
  • Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn – 2022
  • Floppy Knights – 2022
  • Paradise Killer (Xbox Series X|S Optimized) – March 16, 2022
  • Kraken Academy!! – March 22, 2022
  • Beacon Pines – Unknown
  • Citizen Sleeper – Unknown

While these aren’t your typical AAA titles that most have come to associate the Game Pass with since last year, they are still noteworthy releases. The diverse selection of freebies should give Game Pass subscribers to keep on throwing their money at Microsoft. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn should be worth circling March 29 on your calendar for, as it comes from Paradox Interactive, the studio behind hits like Ashen and Crusader Kings 3.

Of course, you don’t have to wait until then to find a quality game from the recent ID@Xbox event. Case in point, some Game Pass subscribers have had a chance to play Tunic and Paradise Killer for days already.

So far, Tunic has surprised fans with its bright and appealing puzzle-filled world and tight action-adventure gameplay.

Speaking of Redfall and Starfield, only the Bethesda Game Studios title has a release date right now. Arkane Studios still hasn’t confirmed when Redfall is coming out later this year, but there are speculations that it will be here by October, just in time for Halloween. Meanwhile, Bethesda just stealth dropped more Starfield footage as part of its newest Into the Starfield episode.
