Fans of The Witcher will be delighted to see the Netflix trailer for the new Witcher prequel miniseries that is scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2022.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is a spin-off of The Witcher series that will serve as a prequel to the Netflix series that has already released two seasons on the streaming platform.
Netflix announced the four-episode limited series last July. It will be set 1,200 years before the events of the first season of The Witcher and depict the creation of the first Witcher as well as the events leading to the "Conjunction of the Spheres." It will also explore the ancient Elven civilization before its demise.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will continue in her current role as the executive producer, while screenwriter Declan de Barra will serve as the showrunner. Earlier in 2021, Jodie Turner-Smith and Laurence O'Fuarain joined the cast, but later in April 2021, Jodie Turner-Smith departed from the cast due to scheduling conflicts. Since then, Michelle Yeoh and Sophia Brown have joined the cast. Laurence O'Fuarain stars as Fjall, a warrior sworn to protect the king; Michelle Yeoh as Scian, a nomadic sword-elf; and Sophia Brown as Eile, a traveling musician.
