Why is Antony Starr not voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?

Considering fellow actors J. K. Simmons and John Cena are lending their voices to their characters Omni-Man and Peacemaker, respectively, it makes no sense why Starr shouldn't do the same. Given that he voiced his in-game character in Call of Duty's crossover with The Boys, MK1 fans feel like they're getting robbed, and who can blame them?

Of course, there's a slim chance that Starr might just be yanking our chain. Maybe he's been bound by an NDA not to reveal his involvement in the game until his character is released sometime in spring next year. Only time will tell.

If he was indeed open to voicing Homelander but circumstances prevented him from accomplishing this, it's possible that Warner Bros. Games made Starr an offer he could refuse. Activision has a reputation for spending substantial amounts to make crossover events a reality, and the offer from NetherRealm Studios might have been far less lucrative.

On the other hand, Starr is a busy man. If he were in the middle of filming an ongoing project, he would have turned down any advances from WB Games. However, this theory contradicts his previous statement expressing his willingness to voice Homelander.

Ultimately, it's all a bit of a mystery. As Starr suggested, if you're really itching to hear Homelander in a game, go play Call of Duty?
