When Is The Next Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 DLC Coming Out?

Insomniac Games is taking its time to recover from the security breach last year by slowly releasing new content for Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has been the subject of much controversy lately due to its massive development budget.

As Insomniac Games promised earlier, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the critically acclaimed PlayStation 5 exclusive, is receiving a substantial update on March 7. The Version 1.002 update brings a wealth of new features and improvements to the game, further enhancing the web-slinging experience for fans of the franchise.

One of the most anticipated additions is the New Game Plus mode, which allows players to start a new game while retaining previously unlocked suits, skills, and gear. This lets players to revisit the game with their existing arsenal while introducing new challenges and unlockables, such as Ultimate Levels and Golden Gadget styles. Moreover, players can now replay their favorite missions, adding to the replay value of the game.

The upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 update brings enhancements to the Photo Mode, including the ability to change the time of day after completing the game’s story. This feature, coupled with action figure mode, stickers, and new suit styles for Peter’s story suits, offers players even more opportunities to capture and share their Spider-Man adventures in creative ways.

Despite the criticism, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 still went on to win accolades following its launch en route to setting a new record as the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusive in history.

Accessibility has been a key focus for Insomniac Games, and Version 1.002 reflects this commitment. The update includes significant accessibility improvements such as Audio Descriptions, a Screen Reader, Cinematic Captions, and High Contrast Outlines. These features are designed to make Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 more inclusive and enjoyable for a wider audience.

In addition to the enhancements, the update introduces new suits inspired by Marvel’s Hellfire Gala, available for both Peter and Miles at no extra cost. Peter’s suit is based on the design by Russell Dauterman, while Miles dons a suit inspired by Bernard Chang’s Hellfire Gala variant cover for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #8.

Furthermore, Insomniac Games, Marvel Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment are collaborating with Gameheads. The Oakland-based game education program empowers underrepresented youth through video game design and development. The resulted is the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack, featuring unique suits for Peter and Miles, alongside photo mode stickers and frames. Available for $5, with all proceeds up to $1 million going to Gameheads, this pack supports a worthy cause while offering the players new ways to customize their experience. The suits will also be available for free to all players at a later date, ensuring everyone can enjoy the new content.

Unfortunately, Insomniac didn’t mention the previously leaked story DLC for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. But what’s clear is that Insomniac’s next game isn’t coming out within the current and next fiscal year as confirmed by Sony in its most recent earnings call.

Insomniac Games recently fell victim to a massive security breach that revealed its plans for the next ten years, including a standalone Venom game in 2025, the release window for Marvel’s Wolverine, and an X-Men title.
