HBO Max and Warner Bros. know full well that the hype for the upcoming Mortal Kombat cinematic reboot is at an all-time high. This is probably why the two have decided to throw audiences a proverbial bone by releasing the first 7-minutes of Mortal Kombat.
Get Ready to Watch the First 7 Minutes of Mortal Kombat
The upcoming Mortal Kombat film will feature an ensemble of actors and people behind the scenes with a lot to prove. Greg Russo and Dave Callaham were both tapped to write the film's script. Meanwhile, Australian director, Simon McQuoid, will helm the cinematic reboot for his feature debut.
Fans already had a good idea of what to expect from Mortal Kombat. A film that fans have asked for years, the reboot has so far turned a lot of heads. In particular, many have high expectations after the director claims to have pushed boundaries of the film's R-rating without risking a total ban from premiering on theaters. Perhaps the most notable scene as seen in the trailers comes when the iconic ninja, Sub-Zero, used his ice powers to freeze his poor victim's blood and made a knife out of it.
But while all of the trailers offer a nice glimpse of the kind of action to expect from the Mortal Kombat movie, fans finally have a chance to get a more substantial look.
The first 7 minutes of Mortal Kombat follows Hanzo Hasashi (Hiroyuki Sanada) and his family in 17th century Japan before the events of the film. The family finds their peace disturbed when a rival warrior clan led by a ruthless warrior named Bi-Han (Joe Taslim) suddenly comes in and wreaks havoc. Although the footage doesn't explicitly name who the two featured warriors are, casual Mortal Kombat fans will quickly deduce the names of both from their powers alone.
