, Blizzard Entertainment has announced the first expansion for Diablo 4 and it's coming next year. To be more specific, Vessel of Hatred is hitting the digital storeshelves in late 2024, which promises to bring back lost and disheartened Diablo fans to the much-beloved world of Sanctuary, with added regions, new questlines, and a still-to-be-revealed enigmatic new class. The announcement came at BlizzCon 2023, immediately sparking both excitement and speculation.
Vessel of Hatred signals a significant narrative shift for the franchise. For the first time ever, the spotlight isn't on Diablo nor Baal. Instead, it establishes the eldest of the Prime Evils, Mephisto, at the center of its unfolding saga.
Known as the Lord of Hatred, Mephisto's return to Diablo 4 marks a reunion with the franchise's most notorious villains, resurrecting a deep-rooted feud within the Diablo lore. The expansion is taking players on a perilous journey through a new region, Nahantu, that promises to challenge even the most seasoned Diablo veterans. Additionally, players will be able to revisit the Teganze Plains and the Torajan Jungles, regions that hark back to the good old days of Diablo 2, thereby weaving a unique told composed of both the old and the new.
