Mindy Kaling’s animated series, Velma, finally got a release date on HBO Max shortly after the release of its official trailer.
Velma Dinkley is part of the iconic Scooby-Doo gang and is widely considered the “brains” of the group. But, while most of the rest of the gang, as they’re usually called, have pretty consistent backstories, Velma’s changes depending on the continuity. Thus, Mindy Kaling’s upcoming animated series is a chance to explore why Velma is who she is and, hopefully, how she ended up being a part of the Scooby-Doo gang.
Having said that, we’ll find out more about “Velma” when it hits HBO Max on January 12.
Judging from the teaser trailer for Velma, fans can look forward to solving possibly slasher-related crimes in the show. Also, for those who’re wondering if the Scooby-Gang is going to be in the show, we’ve got good news for you. The show, which will reportedly explore a “love quadrangle” between the gang, will feature Sam Richardson as Shaggy, Constance Wu as Daphne, and Glenn Howerton as Fred.
Speaking of HBO Max, fans can look forward to watching HBO’s The Last of Us starting on January 15.
