Universal Pictures confirms a live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon

An action fantasy animated trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon is based on Cressida Cowell's book series of the same name.

Set in the mythical village of Berk, the series follows Hiccup, the undersized teenage son of the village chief, who dreams of becoming a dragon slayer. In an attempt to realize his dream, he shoots down a rare and dangerous dragon, but he can't bring himself to kill it. Instead, he treats the dragon's injury, befriends it, and names it Toothless. With the aid of his dragon friend, Hiccup teaches his friends and fellow villagers how to train other dragons. In the end, they would need the dragons' help to protect themselves from attackers. This creates a new era where humans and dragons live amongst each other peacefully.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dean DeBlois, who wrote, directed, and produced the trilogy, will return in the same capacity for the live-action film. Apart from DeBlois, legendary producer Marc Platt and Adam Siegel are two other people who will serve as producers.

Apart from the planned release date, director, and producers, there is no other detail available on the planned film like the plotline and other crew members. However, the film will likely adapt the first installment in the original trilogy.
