Ubisoft is working on an RPG game based on Invincible

Invincible: Guarding the Globe, poised to land on Android and iOS devices, is already exciting fans and industry insiders alike.

We're hoping that this is the first of many video game adaptations of Invincible.

Ubisoft, in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment, is bringing the Invincible franchise to gaming. The incoming mobile game, Invincible: Guarding the Globe, capitalizes on the growing mainstream popularity of the comic book series-turned-hit animated Prime Video show, offering fans a fresh experience.

Skybound’s comic series, launched in 2003, and its Prime Video adaptation, released in 2021, have created quite a devoted following. The high-octane, super-powered action coupled with the nuanced narratives of Mark Grayson, the half-human hybrid child of the world’s most formidable superhero, Omni-Man, and his emerging powers are now transitioning into an all-new, uniquely mobile experience.

This idle squad role-playing game introduces an original storyline within the Invincible universe. Players will join the Global Defense Agency and assist its head, Cecil Stedman, in unraveling the mystery of a deadly clone army and recovering stolen burger meat – a clear nod to the franchise’s quirky humor.

While the game’s narrative ties to the Prime Video series remain ambiguous, Ubisoft has confirmed the appearance of an array of familiar faces, promising a deeply engaging Invincible experience.

Guarding the Globe isn’t the next Marvel’s Spider-Man. Instead, its goal is to be a unique RPG experience. The game lets players build, manage, and customize their five-member attack squad, made up of attackers, defenders, and supporters, to fend off a slew of threats from the world of Invincible. The characters confirmed for the game include Invincible, Atom Eve, Omni-Man, Robot, Rex Splode, War Woman, Black Samson, Dupli-Kate, The Immortal, and Green Ghost, among others. The team selection aspect of the game promotes unique synergies and combinations, ensuring every player’s squad is catered to different circumstances and strategies.

Teased in an announcement trailer, the game is visually modeled after the animated series, recreating the vibrant, dynamic art style fans have come to love. This gaming adaptation to mobile screens has been praised by Robert Kirkman, Invincible’s co-creator, and Skybound’s chairman and chief creative officer. He noted that Ubisoft has done “an incredible job” in transmuting the essence of the comic and TV series into a mobile game format.

Multiple new seasons of Invincible are currently in development.

As with many mobile games, Guarding the Globe will follow a seasonal format, meaning fans can expect fresh content and additional characters from the world of Invincible with the advent of each new season.

The exact launch date remains a mystery, but Ubisoft’s assertion that it will be releasing “soon”, leaving fans excited. In the meantime, eager fans can pre-register for the game, a step that unlocks a suite of rewards including a Burger Mart burger, two Hero Dossiers, 35,000 Hero XP, and 50,000 GDA Chips.

This video game adaptation adds yet another project that Invincible fans can look forward to ahead of the premiere of the second season on Prime Video. It’s also believed that Omni-Man will join Mortal Kombat 1 as part of its roster. Finally, a live-action adaptation is currently in the works.
