Ubisoft is one of the publishers that opted to distribute its games either via its own storefront or on the Epic Games Store in the last few years. The French development studio previously said that Steam's distribution model was "unrealistic."

"It's unrealistic, the current business model that they have," Ubisoft's VP for Partnership and Revenue Chris Early stated regarding Steam in 2019. "It doesn't reflect where the world is today in terms of game distribution."

Since Ubisoft left Steam in 2019, many of its titles were distributed via the Ubisoft Connect and Epic Games Store. Assassin's Creed Valhalla and The Division 2 are some of the AAA titles that are not part of the Steam catalog of Ubisoft.

Well, that is all about to change as Ubisoft has announced that it will be returning to Steam. Ubisoft has listed Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champions as the games that will be offered on Steam.

We're constantly evaluating how to bring our games to different audiences wherever they are, while providing a consistent player ecosystem through Ubisoft Connect," a spokesperson for Ubisoft shared with The Verge about its comeback on Steam. "Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800, and Roller Champions are among the Ubisoft titles that will be releasing on Steam."
