Ubisoft is all set to release Assassin’s Creed Mirage on October 5, across multiple platforms. A return to the series’ roots, Mirage will be quite unlike the most recent outings. And, as it turns out, this applies to more than just Mirage’s gameplay.
Fans can rest easy knowing that they won’t need the most cutting-edge hardware to enjoy Mirage on the PC.
Historically, the Assassin’s Creed series has been renowned for setting benchmarks in terms of system requirements and their commitment to delivering unparalleled graphical fidelity. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the series’ previous installment from 2020, was notably demanding for PC gamers. Mirage continues this trend, but there’s a silver lining.
In a divergence from many other recent AAA game releases, the latest Assassin’s Creed game won’t demand an upgrade to your PC.
On the contrary, for those playing on 1080p with low graphic settings at 30 fps, the game only requires a GeForce GTX 1060 (6GB) or its AMD/Intel counterparts. The CPU requirement for this setting is either an Intel Core i7-4790K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600. Interestingly, Mirage maintains its predecessor’s RAM requirement of 8GB. However, Ubisoft has given emphasis on other hardware components, raising the GPU VRAM requirements by at least 2GB across various performance categories.
Another notable change is Ubisoft’s emphasis on SSDs. While Valhalla didn’t recommend SSDs, Mirage will. This aligns with the industry trend, as games like Starfield and even a post-release update for Cyberpunk 2077 have pivoted towards SSDs, making them the new normal for enhanced gaming experiences.
For those gamers eyeing a more enhanced experience on Mirage, the recommendations escalate accordingly. For 1080p at 60 fps on high settings, an Intel Core i7-8700K/AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is recommended, with graphics cards such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6GB or the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB being ideal. Moving up to 1440p, one would need GPUs such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 8GB. Finally, for players that are aiming to enjoy the full 4K experience, the recommendation stands at an RTX 3080 10GB or AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB and an Intel Core i5-11600K/AMD Ryzen 5 5600X.
Ubisoft has also managed to keep the installation size surprisingly low at 40GB for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’s less than half of its predecessor, Valhalla, took up as much as 150GB with added content.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage presents a departure from the expansive open-world RPG model. This time around, the game will focus on the essence of Assassin’s Creed – the allure of stealth, assassinations, and a deep dive into the workings of the Hidden Ones in their nascent days. Both veterans and newcomers to the franchise are eagerly awaiting this title, hoping to experience the magic that has made the series a gaming staple.
The game will be available for PC on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store. It will also see a release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Amazon Luna. Additionally, an iPhone 15 Pro port is in the pipeline for early 2024.
