At this point, Ubisoft should just switch out The Sands of Time with Quicksand with how long it's taking for the remake of the 2003 action-adventure title to finish.
Ubisoft first announced the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2020. Since then, Ubisoft has pushed the game's release date twice. The last we heard is that the studio has delayed the game indefinitely. But, the current update isn't as bad as it sounds.
For one thing, Ubisoft is giving the project back to its original creator.
According to an official statement on the official Prince of Persia Twitter account, Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai will take leave as Ubisoft Montreal takes over the development of the game. It's worth noting that Ubisoft Montreal is the principal developer for some of the French publisher's biggest franchises like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs, among several others.
As one of the largest game development studios in the world, the company is hinting that the scope and scale of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake have grown beyond the capacities of its smaller studios.
