Three years ago, Ubisoft announced it was developing an Assassin's Creed title for the Meta (formerly Oculus) VR headset. Since then, the company has provided no update about the game, which led to speculation that it was one of the victims in the studio's recent wave of cancelations that include a Splinter Cell VR title, Ghost Recon Frontline, and more unannounced titles.
Over the years since Ubisoft's initial announcement, there have been leaks that revealed that the studio's VR project is named Nexus. Now, according to an Insider Gaming report, Ubisoft is already engaging in internal discussions about a sequel to the VR title even though it hasn't been launched yet.
Reportedly, the video game developer believes the title will perform well with audiences and is exploring the idea of a sequel ahead of its release.
Assassin's Creed Nexus will reportedly allow gamers to play as characters from past Assassin's Creed installments over the course of 16 missions. The characters, Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra, will each feature in six, five, and four missions respectively, while Haytham will feature in only one. Since different characters are headlining multiple missions, the game will likely feature different locations and time periods, too.
