This year is shaping up to be a good year for racing games. Microsoft recently shared new details about Forza Motorsports, which is being touted as a rival for Gran Turismo 7. Now, a new game has been announced that aims to challenge Forza Horizon 5 and Need for Speed Unbound.

Ubisoft has announced The Crew Motorfest, the third installment in the open-world racing series. Ubisoft Ivory Tower will return as the developers of the game, which will use a new game engine.
The studio dropped an official trailer for The Crew Motorfest showcasing the open-world setting. "Motorfest will allow car lovers to fulfill their ultimate action driving bucket list through a series of tailor-made races, themed events, and other unique challenges," Ubisoft states.
The upcoming racing game will be set on the island of O’ahu in Hawaii. Players will be racing in various locations on the island including city streets and lush forests.
"This is the perfect playground for players to have fun together in with their vehicles: racing through the city streets of Honolulu, going down the ashy volcano slopes, adventuring deep in the lush rainforest, drifting along the curvy mountain roads, or just chilling on the sunny beach," Ubisoft states. "On their own or with their crew, they will be able to explore the entire island behind the wheel of hundreds of the most legendary vehicles."
Fans of Test Drive Unlimited may be familiar with the locations as many of the developers that worked on that title are part of the team for The Crew Motorfest. Both games are set on the island of Hawaii.
According to Ubisoft, The Crew Motorfest will be a live service game with the content being constantly updated. New cars and events will be added to the game post-launch.
Ubisoft announced that it will have a closed test for PC starting February 1. The first test will see 2000 participants getting their hands on an early version of the game. The closed beta was revealed in the first episode of The Crew Motorfest: Behind the Wheel.
Players who are interested in participating in the beta tests will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent leaks. The test phase will include consoles closer to the release of the game. Gamers can sign up to participate in the closed beta tests here.
The Crew Motorfest will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in late 2023.
