As it turns out, Ubisoft does comment on rumors and speculation.
Not long after VGC broke the news that Ubisoft had canceled work on the unannounced Immortals Fenyx Rising sequel, a spokesperson reached out to tell VGC that the company is "redirecting and reallocating some creative teams and resources within the Quebec studio to other unannounced projects."
This strategic move is in line with Ubisoft's intensified focus on its larger and more proven franchises, specifically Assassin's Creed and Far Cry, potentially leaving the now-canceled sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising to dissolve into the realm of nothingness.
While Ubisoft refrained from confirming outright that the sequel is no longer happening or if it's being temporarily put on the backburner, the fact remains that it refused to talk about it. Thus, it's safe to say that Ubisoft's priorities lie elsewhere, which means that the "large game" that's coming out by next April isn't a follow-up to Immortals Fenyx Rising.
