Nearly two years after Playground Games gave us the vast and arid open-world desert setting of Mexico in Forza Horizon 5, Turn 10 Studios will bring the racing action back to the tracks with the release of Forza Motorsport.

After being confirmed last year, Turn 10 joined several other first-party Xbox Game Studios developers to give audiences a glimpse at what might be a reboot of its best-selling racing game.

The first non-numbered Forza Motorsport installment since the 2005 title, Forza Motorsport is actually the eighth mainline entry in Xbox's racing franchise.

As showcased at the first-ever Xbox Developer Direct, Forza Motorsport will feature over 500 cars that players can unlock, collect, and race in, as well as nearly a thousand unique upgrades. As expected, Forza Motorsport is a visual smorgasbord and is easily the best-looking game on the Xbox Series X. According to Turn 10, it used a spectra-photometer to scan and develop life-like paint models for the cars in the game. In addition, Forza Motorsport will simulate damage and dirt buildup, so your cars are going to look worse the more you drive it, as it should.
