Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is heading to streaming earlier than expected. Less than two months after hitting theaters, the movie, directed by Steven Caple Jr., is coming to Paramount+.
The most recent entry into the Transformers franchise impressed audiences and critics during its theatrical run. The movie is now going to reach a wider audience as it arrives on streaming today.
According to a report by The Direct, Paramount has confirmed that the sci-fi action adventure will be available to its subscribers on July 25. The movie debuts on Paramount+ just 46 days since it was released in theaters on June 9. The movie is also available to purchase and rent digitally.
Audiences who want to watch the film in UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD will have to wait until October 10 for the movie’s physical release.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts marks the start of a new era for the film series and sets up a crossover with G.I. Joe. As Hasbro’s second most popular toy line, the G.I. Joes may be teaming up with the Autobots in the next installment. However, details for the sequel are still largely unknown at this point.
For me, the Joes, whoever they are, are entering the world of Transformers, not combining the two worlds,” producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said when asked about the future of both properties. “The plan is to eventually do [a crossover]. But, for the next movie, it’s the Joes that are coming in for whatever the ending of Rise of the Beasts has led us to believe is possible.”
Director Steven Caple Jr. explains that the G.I. Joe’s use of technology is something he wants to embrace. One of the film’s human protagonists Noah Diaz, played by Anthony Ramos, is seen fighting alongside the Autobots in an exosuit which opens up the possibility of more high-tech gadgets to be introduced in the film series.
“They’re known for their tech,” Caple Jr. said of the G.I. Joes. “I want to keep that alive. I think there’s something to say about them being known for the tech, now having the Exosuit that’s tapped into the Autobots. I feel like we can play a bit.”
Transformer: Rise of the Beast has been praised by audiences and proved that 2018’s Bumblebee wasn’t a fluke. The film is also a commercial success, earning $427.1 million worldwide.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is now available for streaming on Paramount+ and can be digitally purchased or rented.
