As the year comes to a close, Top Gun actor Tom Cruise thanked his fans for supporting his return as ace pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell after 36 years. The best part is Cruise did it in a way that only he can: while jumping out of a perfectly good airplane, because, why not?

Top Gun: Maverick isone of the biggest movies to hit theaters this year. The film is Cruise's highest-grossing movie to date. The only movie that may be able to surpass it at the box office is Avatar: The Way of Water.

"I didn't want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters," the actor said in the video. Thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick!

Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie then taps Cruise on the shoulder to remind him that they were on the clock to shoot a scene for the upcoming movie. "Oh yeah, we're filming. We gotta get this shot!" the actor exclaims.
