Threefold Expectations is a new world quest introduced in Genshin Impact 4.4 with the release of the new area, “Chenyu Vale”. In this guide, we’ve covered everything you need to know about the quest, including the solutions to the puzzles and the rewards.
Unlock Requirement
If you’ve not completed the first sub-quest, “Qiaoying of the Sacred Mountain” of the main world quest of Chenyu Vale called “Chenyu’s Blessings of Sunken Jade,” then the Threefold Expectations world quest won’t show up.
Although you only need to complete the first sub-quest for Threefold Expectations to unlock, we recommend completing the entire quest line to ensure all future world quests are unlocked for you, including some secret areas not accessible otherwise.
Quest Start
You can start this quest by going to Qiaoying Village and speaking with Uncle Luo. Remember, if you do not see Uncle Luo at the given location, complete the pre-required world quest, and it will appear.
After the cutscene with Uncle Luo, you will get three quest markers, each directing to three elemental monoliths. You need to go to each monolith and adjust them by solving puzzles. The puzzles are straightforward. They won’t take too long. You can go to these monoliths in any order.
Hydro Monolith
First, resonate with the Hydro monolith and some Lotus Lanterns will appear. All of the Lotus Lanterns will go to their designated position except one which will be left behind. Investigate the Lotus Lantern which is left behind and some enemies will spawn. After you kill these enemies, a Lotus Lamp will spawn.
Use your adeptal energy to pick up the Lotus Lamp and you will have an adeptal energy field around you. With the Lotus Lamp equipped, run to all the Lotus Lanterns to ensure they are inside the adeptal field. Once they’re inside the field, they will light up. You don’t have to light them all up at once. Just run up to all the lamps once to light them up. The puzzle will be solved once they’re all lit, and the monolith will be adjusted.
Anemo Monolith
Resonate with the Anemo monolith and a wind current will spawn. Use the wind current to glide vertically and you will see a platform you can move with your adeptal energy. Use your adeptal energy to move the platform closer to you and jump on it. Once you’ve jumped on the platform, some Anemo slimes will appear.
Use a bow character to take them all out. After the first batch has been taken care of, a golden carp teleporter will spawn. Activate it to move to the next platform and take out the next batch of Anemo slimes. After taking out this batch, the monolith will be adjusted.
Pyro Monolith
The Pyro monolith is inside the cave located southeast of the Qiaoying Village. Interact with the Pyro monolith to activate and descend the platform with the Jade Incense Cauldron. This Cauldron will have the adeptal energy which you can collect. You can use this energy to light up the censers inside the cave. There are four censers around the Jade Incense Cauldron.
When you resonate with the Cauldron, the adeptal energy from the Cauldron flies towards you. Once you’ve collected the adeptal energy, you can resonate with the Cauldron again to send the energy flying back into it. You can use this mechanic to light up all the censers by standing between the Cauldron and the censers.
Return to Qiaoying Village
Once you’ve adjusted all three monoliths, return to Qiaoying Village and look for Uncle Luo. After speaking with Uncle Luo, you will get another cutscene where you and Hautemontagne will examine the giant teapot at the Qiaoying Village. While examining, you will be teleported inside the teapot, where you must eliminate all the elemental creatures. Eliminate all the elemental creatures to complete this challenge.
Completing the Quest
Leave the domain to meet up with Uncle Luo and Hautemontagne to complete this world quest.

You will get the following rewards for completing the ‘Threefold Expectations’ world quest:

You will also get an achievement called “Tea I Am, Tea in a Cauldron.”
