After much anticipation, Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for the third season of one of its biggest hits, The Witcher.
The live-action adaptation of the popular Polish novel and the video game of the same name features Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in what will be his final performance as the lead character. This only upped the excitement for the new season even more.

The Witcher Season 3 trailer offers glimpses of new and familiar faces like Geralt's love interest, Yennefer of Vengerberg as well as his protege, Ciri. The trailer also offers a look at how a man who can cut down nearly anything in his path can feel fear and why that's one of the scariest things ever. More importantly, it appears that the Wild Hunt are finally coming into play, which isn't that surprising following the events of Season 2 and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
The Witcher Season 3 will be composed of eight hour-long episodes much like the first two seasons. But, unlike Seasons 1 and 2, Season 3 will be split into two parts.
After making a name for himself with the DC Extended Universe as its Man of Steel, Cavill established his roots within the incredibly-hard-to-penetrate hardcore gaming community as a geek in a greek god's body following his performance as Geralt of Rivia. It's believed that his departure from Netflix's The Witcher isn't due to contractual obligations. Rather, it's because Cavill feels like Netflix isn't giving him a chance to portray Geralt of Rivia the way that he feels like does him justice.
Why Netflix doesn't just hand Cavill the keys to The Witcher franchise after the critical acclaim and viewership numbers the first two seasons received remains one of life's biggest questions.
With that said, Netflix still has a chance to change its mind based on the reception to Season 3 of The Witcher.
Hopefully, Cavill is still open to returning.
Excited fans can look forward to the premiere of the first five episodes of The Witcher Season 3 on June 29 followed by the rest on July 27.
As for where fans can watch Cavill next, the former DCEU actor has signed with Amazon to star and executive produce the projects related to its planned Warhammer 40K universe.
