Netflix has confirmed the streaming premiere date of all 24 episodes of The Walking Dead's eleventh and final season on its platform.
The streaming platform listed the show's premiere date on its service page and it will be on January 6. The show's finale aired on AMC, its original network, on November 20, so the Netflix premiere date will come as a surprise to fans many of whom wouldn't have expected it until later in the year.
Like previous seasons of the series, the final season is a true adaptation of the comic book franchise as it focuses on the ongoing conflict between survivors and the Commonwealth. This isn't to say the show didn't incorporate its own elements. Case in point, The Walking Dead's 11th season portrayed a different fate for Rosita Espinosa as well as the return of Rick Grimes, one of the most fabled characters in the show.
Fans of The Walking Dead don't have to worry too much about the main series ending. The franchise has produced several spinoffs, including the prequel Fear the Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and the anthology Tales of the Walking Dead.
Fear the Walking Dead began airing in 2015 and it has an eighth season on the way, The Walking Dead: World Beyond ran for two seasons and concluded in 2021, and Tales of the Walking Dead is expected to be renewed for another season.
