Microsoft and Bethesda announced that Starfield will have a stand-alone game showcase. The decision was made by the developer to do a separate event from the Developer_Direct live stream to give ample time to do a deep dive – but that’s still a ways away.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting the Starfield showcase, however, Bethesda still does not have a date for the said event. Bethesda community manager named “VaultOfDaedalus” gave an update on Discord saying that the studio is still “sorting stuff out”.
“We’ll have more info to share on the showcase when it’s ready to be, still sorting stuff out,” Bethesda’s community manager said. “I know that’s not the answer you want, but nothing specific is being withheld.”
It seems the studio is still not ready to showcase the game at this point. Some fans may be disappointed that a Starfield showcase isn’t happening soon, as the event would have possibly given us a release date for the highly anticipated space role-playing game.
When will Starfield be released?
There are several rumors regarding the release date of Starfield. A report suggests that the game will be launching on June 29, 2023, which seems rather early. GOG Galaxy storefront listed that the game is coming on the same day as International Space Day.
However, GOG PR clarified that the listing was erroneous. According to the statement we received, the release date of Starfield “was caused by a false interpretation of the release date section in one of our systems, and as a consequence, misleading information.” GOG also said the error “has already been corrected” and that GOG is “working on a solution that would prevent such occurrences in the future.”
There were previous reports that the game has been delayed by at least one to two months towards mid to late summer. Known Youtuber and gaming insider MrMattyPlays revealed that a reliable source mentioned the game will not be coming in the first half of the year, but will still be coming in the summer.
Probably the clearest indication at this point that Starfield is ready for release is the stand-alone showcase. Microsoft has announced a release window for all the games presented during the recently concluded Developer_Direct live stream.
Hopefully, we will be getting a new update for the showcase and the release window soon. All signs still point to a 2023 release, however, the exact date still remains a mystery. Starfield should be coming exclusively to PC and Xbox Series X/S sometime within the year.
